Description

Our Policeman documents Séverine Bascouert's two-month stay in the mountain villages of Yoshino, Nara Prefecture, in late 2024. The artist stayed in mountain villages where the streets were empty but the ryokans were full, and spent time wandering without specific purpose.

The work records interactions between the traveller, the ryokan proprietor, and the village's only policeman. Bascouert created a series of small paintings during her journey using opaque watercolours and gouache, capturing the mountain scenery.

This limited edition was produced when the artist visited Taiwan for the One Table Art Book Fair #2 Lagon Revue in December 2024. Bascouert personally screen-printed the covers during the event, and the book was launched at the fair.

《Our Policeman》記錄塞維琳·巴斯庫爾於2024年末兩個月在日本奈良縣吉野山村的停留。藝術家下榻在街上了無人煙但旅館都客滿了的山村裡，遊離浪盪無所事事。

作品記錄旅人與客棧老闆、及山村唯一員警的互動。巴斯庫爾旅程沿途畫下一系列小畫，使用不透明水彩與水粉，畫出山中景色。

這本限量版在藝術家於2024年12月中來台參加One Table Art Book Fair #2 Lagon Revue書展活動期間製作。巴斯庫爾親自上陣絹印書封，本書於活動中首發。
