"Yoonmi Nam: Arranged Flowers"

"A quiet dialogue between fleeting beauty and modern persistence."
In Arranged Flowers, cut blooms are elegantly arranged as if to make time stand still—yet their vessels are the disposable artefacts of our daily lives: a yoghurt pot, a styrofoam takeaway box, an instant noodle bowl. Through this striking juxtaposition, artist Yoonmi Nam explores the tension between the impermanence of nature and the unnatural endurance of throwaway culture.

This exhibition catalogue from the Hong Kong Open Printshop beautifully documents Nam’s investigation into global consumerism. Drawing on her heritage, she translates the contemporary visual language of single-use objects through the meticulous, time-honoured traditions of Japanese mokuhanga (woodblock printing) and Korean green-glazed celadon.
