Her etchings depict a world of people who's faces are not clearly visible. They could be me, they could be you, their identities are not known. At a glance, they seem as though they are residents in an imaginary world, but Akiyama actually created this world based on inspiration from the modern world. 

This familiarity that is not quite apparent allows is created with the intention of the observer becoming aware once again of the reality that they exist in now, today.
