About the Artist
A cult figure of the French underground, Pierre La Police has operated under a pseudonym since the early 1990s, preferring to remain a ghost behind his creations. His work is a masterclass in "intentional awkwardness"—subverting the glossy codes of pop culture with faulty perspectives, strange anatomies, and a logic that teeters on the edge of collapse. Drawing on the absurdity of B-movies and the chaos of what he calls "defective perception," La Police treats art not as a pursuit of perfection, but as a "perfect situation for making all kinds of mistakes." From his early self-published zines to his contemporary gallery installations, he invites us into a world that is equal parts hilarious, disquieting, and undeniably his own.
