Peng Chau Steel Gates Zine

A visual archive of disappearing Hong Kong heritage

This hand-folded zine documents eight historic steel gates still standing in Peng Chau, one of Hong Kong's few remaining old districts untouched by extensive urbanization. Through Riso printing and thoughtful design, the publication preserves the distinctive street character of the 1960s and 1970s—a vanishing landscape of industrial craftsmanship and neighborhood identity.

Each gate is carefully "recorded" as both visual documentation and cultural artifact, celebrating the utilitarian beauty of these everyday structures. The zine includes a bonus "Peng Chau Tonghua Iron Gate Map" to guide readers through the island's architectural treasures.
